According to a study, Emotional pain lasts for 12 minutes, anything longer than that is considered to be self-inflicted.

That's one of the most insensitive and inaccurate study ever. Can you cite the source?
I hope people don't tell about this study to people who have lost a loved one.Like (3)

A couple next door lost their 5yr old boy(their only kid) last year. I dont want them to cry or feel devastated. Telling them that 12 minutes after the death of their son, their grief was self inflicted and unnecessary is a total bs. The five stages of grief takes some time to unfold.Like (1)

What is the source of this study? I wonder how they measured that...

What about the death of a child or loved one for that matter?

I would agree that the death of a child would cause a lifetime of emotional pain....you'd have to be enlightened to rise above itLike (1)

Exactly. for some people(the "researchers" in this case), emotional pain is just a cheating boy/girlfriend they met a month ago. The actual depth of emotional pain is beyond the scope of their understanding.Like (1)
