I have adopted several adopted cats. As a matter of fact, that's I've ever adopted. The best thing would be to just make sure you are consistent with where you put the food, water, and litter box. And make sure you give lots of love and attention, which I'm sure you are already doing :)

Feed her a quality cat food....Read labels...stay away from anything that says "by-products"....meat should be the first ingredient....cats HAVE to have meat, to survive....

Poor diet is a major reason for disease....and don't think because the vet sells you Science Diet, you're doing good....it's one of the worst culprits.....

You're best buying something marked "holistic" or "all natural"....Keep her inside....so, she can live a long, healthy life....Good luck....this kitty is lucky you found her.

I am a "foster mom" with humane society and have brought home lots of cats at different age. Older cats are great. Beside food and water, they just need someone to love them and a warm place to sleep. They don't get in trouble like kittens. Just make sure the house he has come from and is familiar with, is similar to yours like existance of children and other pets. I have adopted four cats from humane society so far and would not have anyother way : )

Be patient. Some cats will fit right in to your world in a few days and some take quite a while to be comfortable. Lots of attention and keeping a food and water schedule so she will learn what to expect could help too.
