My dad always said I was a viking. It's not legal in most places but I would like to be cremated on a funeral pyre atop a large hill in the wind and let the element of air whisk my ashes across the skies.

Take the ashes to a place i really loved when alive and blow it away watching it merge with the wind. :)

My answer was going to be exactly what you wrote in the details of your Q. I usually check the details before answering a Q and I was quite shocked to find my answer written in your details. Honestly.

Coincidentally yesterday I was informed by my friends that their dog had died and that they had buried him and planted a Yellow Wood tree over his grave.

Only my kids will be around to make those decisions. I don't want to be buried in the ground or put on someone's dresser just to sit there. In death, I want to be completely free and limitless. Just throw my ashes out into the wind. It's just my body, it's not my soul.

Turn them into a gem stone or put them in fireworks. These are real options, by the way.

I think I would ask for 500 trees. After all it is a death wish.

Besides, I give a hoot where my ashes are dispersed. Once I am dead, it is just calcium carbonate. lol. I give a sh^t if they are immersed in the local sewage.

But I would want those 500 trees. Better still 1000 trees.

Mix them with the ashes of all my pups, then save them and hope to be mixed with my wife's. Then the kid can either bury them or spread them on flowing water

I'd like to be scattered at sea, but if that's not possible then I'd like to fertilise a Magnolia tree because I love them and have always wanted one. The garden's not big enough though so maybe I'd like a tree planted at a special place.

I don't know if anybody has ever seen the tv show Only Fools and Horses. Its a classic comedy about 2 brothers who are market traders and always on the look out for a quick profit. Ok well in one episode the grandfather of one of their friends dies and they think the urn the ashes are stored in are vluable so they buy it cheap and they want to sell the thing so they are trying to think of ways to get rid of the ashes. They try to get rid of them in the river but the river police come and ask if they have permission to scatter the ahses there which they don't so that scraps one idea. Then they want to scatter the ashes on a bowling green because he liked to play bowls in life but they get caught so cant do that one. Well eventually they drop the urn something like and it gets taken up by a road sweeping machine so the ashes just ended up scattered in the road and swept up. In the end they thought was the best place for him because in life he had been a road sweeper. As I dont want to end up in a road sweeper when time comes for me to go I would prefer to be buried. Just stick me in the ground nice and simple
