"Although the Army does not allow single parents to enlist, there are 37,000 single parents on Active Duty.."?
A female Soldier is being threatened to be sent to Afghanistan for a Court Martial for "failing to obey orders" .. she got pregnant after Basic, her baby is 10 months old. She refused to deploy because she had no one to care for her baby.. Her mom tried, but said she was unable to do so... the girl was arrested and is held in confinment on a base. She will either be sent to Afghanistan for a Court Martial or discharged from the Army.
Whats your thoughts on this?
*Yes, another Military Question... I live overseas and the only newspapers we receive are Military ones... Plus, i try to keep myself as "up to date" on things as I can. Its a huge part of my life now..
* I read this story in Army Times (at least i think its what it is called).. yes, Single parents are in the army, and they usually have a Family Action Plan- this girl had been given her Orders months before deployment, and they had given her 1 30day extension... She had time to set up her Family Action Plan, but did not have it complete by her official deployment date. One Soldier stated that she should have given the child to "foster care" which is usually a family who live near the post and are willing to take care of the child while the parent is deployed.
