Am i having a nervous breakdown my doc has put me on diazapam and got me an emergency appointment with counci?

Im sorry to hear that,your not having a nervous breakdown, at lot of people suffer sometimes with anxiety or depression in their lives, when its unmanageable, often they use medications and therapy to help get you back on track,work with your doctors and counsellor to get yourself back on track, depression and anxiety are also often linked to low levels of serotonin in the brain, relaxants and ssri's(serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are useful alongside some therapy sessions.Dependant on your circumatsnces they will devise some sessions for you and medication, it could be a few months it night be a year, don't worry one if four people in the UK suffer with this at anyone time your not having a breakdown nor are you mental,at this stage you are overly stressed indicated by the drug but it doesn't sound too serious,talk it out and search for the answers with their help and you will move forward Good luck :-)

Actually diazapam is valium- and it's one of the most frequently prescribed drugs in the world. Many people are on it- from famous to ordinary - just may not talk about it. It is simply meant to reduced tension and to help you feel calm and helps you sleep. It is of course used for medical conditions too but I don't they apply with you from what you are saying. As for the term nervous breakdown- this is really not an official term. I think the doctor simply thinks you are depressed and need support like we all do. If it were more serious than that he would have had you seen a pyschiatrist or psychologist not a councilor.
