No, I've seen groups on EP that would suggest it happens often enough. Perhaps it's time you talked to your wife about it. You've been with her for 47 years, even though this will undoubtedly come as a shock to her, she should support you and want you to be happy and explore your feelings. It doesn't have to mean the end of your relationship with her.

Sadly no, read lots of stories about that on EP. Also years ago being gay was not so acceptable so many gay men did the "right" thing and got married and had children. If you do have gay sex on the side, I hope you use condoms and practice safe sex.
