Pretty much. I wouldn't count the human race out even in the long run. It'd take far more then massive economic collapses to wipe us out. Nukes would come closer, but while those that have them undoubtedly would wipe out others who have them, would every square inch of land mutually be targeted by everyone? Would the fallout from thousands of nukes be enough to kill every human on the globe?
