Don't wear black. It doesn't work if you are chubby. Wear the colors you like to wear within a style that looks best on you.
Don't wear pleated pants, they don't look good on anyone baby!
Don't wear ANY stripes...wear a nice collared polo shirt and smell good. A man who smells good is sexy no matter what size. It's the sweaty, stinkyness that turns women off of the typical 'chubby' man. Knowwhutimean? :)
Dont dress too baggy, people typically think this hides their flab but instead it makes you look bigger. Dont dress too tightly because well... it shows everything off and itll make anyone chubby look like 20 lbs of pudding in a vienna sasuage casing. Try also wearing a fitted jacket with a buttoned center. Dont be afraid to wear color but, dont look like a neon sign. Find out whether you are a cool or warm (cool people typically can see their blue veins on their wrist, cools also usually have dark hair. Warms usually have blonde hair with yellow, orange, or red tints. Their skin is also a yellowish bronze color.) Once you figure out what you are cool or warm dress to your skin tone . Good luck!!!
For the love of sanity, please dont wear skinny jeans!
They always do the trick with any men.
Always try to dress to emphasize the 'up'; that is, to focus the other person's eye upwards on your body........
This means, for example, wearing a light color shirt and not too dark slacks..you MUST watch the way you use different shades of colors!!! If you wear say a white shirt and black slacks, you are making yourself look shorter, thus heavier; so a better idea would be to wear a little darker shirt with dark slacks, & vice-versa with the lighter colors.......
NEVER wear shirts with an overall print; they are ALWAYS broadening!!! In fact, you want to be VERY careful with prints......Make sure they are not bright & vivid; (no Hawaian shirts for you!! lol)........you want your prints to be more or less in the background & not stand out too much!!!
Always look for prints, if you like them, that have a 'vertical' look to them!!!
.....if you are not too tall ALWAYS wear shoes the same color as your slacks whenever possible, to create a longer line for your legs, thus adding some height..
And ALWAYS wear cuffless slacks!! they also help with the illusion of height, or a longer leg..........
As someone else here said, your clothes should always FIT.....not too tight, and not too loose!!!
Wear a button down shirt as the row of buttons gives you 'height' and lengthens your torso.
If you like pullovers, try to find them with a contrasting collar; again, making a lengthening line for you.......
If you wear a suit or sportcoat, make sure it's a solid color; if you have any stripes, checks, etc. MAKE DAMN SURE they are 'muted' or just barely visible.
If you wear all one color, or the same color in different shades, this too will give you 'height' and create a more vertical line.......
I'd be happy to share more ideas with you if you like....I am retired makeup artist, and my background includes training in best types of clothing to wear for your body build, as well as the best colors to wear for your skintone......
So please feel free to get back to me..........glad to help!!
Just make sure you wear clean clothes that are well-pressed not wrinkled. You can look good tall short, fat or thin as long as your clothes fit you well (not too tight or loose) and are clean and pressed. If you walk with confidence then you will look better than anybody dressed in anything. As my wife would say, "Own the ground you walk on."
Wear lots of green $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
