Any behavioral anthropology/evolutionary psychology/neuro-biology based psychology. The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind is a fantastic book.

They are usually very big and think, ideal for stacking, standing on and looking on the top of your cupboards.....
Thing is most info etc in them dates quickly, the moment something definitive is written there are a 101 people picking holes in 'it'Like (2)

NOT SURE IF THIS DIRECTLY INVOLVES PSYCHOLOGY BUT, IT WILL CERTAINLY MAKE YOU THINK IF YOU HAVE BEEN RAISED IN CONSERVATIVE ORTHODOX,LUTHERAN, ECT... CHURCH/RELIGION. THE GNOSTIC GOSPELS, JUST FINISHED THIS AND IT REALLY MADE ME THINK OR RATHER RE-THINK WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED AND HOW I SEE THE WORLD AND ME AS A PERSON.
