That would not cause accelerated expansion. It could cause an expansion, but not an accelerating one. In order for it to be accelerating there must be something that continues to cause the acceleration, which is why we have dark energy. Dark energy is what causes the accelerated expansion of the universe. While the universe expands the density of radiation and ordinary and dark matter declines more quickly than the density of dark energy. Dark energy doesn't dilute with an expanding universe, which allows it to have a constant effect on the universe itself, causing an accelerated expansion. The only way to explain an accelerated expansion is if there is a constant effect that does not dilute.
