Yes, it was replaced by reason. I like it better, it's easier to understand. Less burden, no shame games :)

On a number of occasons I have lost my then current faith. It can be quite a devastating experience... I wouldn't wish it on anybody unless I knew that it was essential for them. However, it can be needed to move on to an expanded understanding or view of the Universe and of Life. And if one is ready to move on but chooses not to, one stagnates until a move is made; and sometimes Life will force the issue.

I lost my faith in my Christian concepts in my early 20s; I diligently searched for another "faith" or set of concepts to form my philosophy of life around, and another, and another. Each time my understanding was deepened and refined, till what I have today. I still don't know if my concepts of Life are completely correct - probably won't till I can review them from the other side of death - but for now, I am pretty secure in them. Its the best I can do, and always open to review if new information or inspiration comes to hand.

The basic human choice is faith or fear. I chose faith.

I have faith in Jesus Christ as a ressurected being.

If I'm wrong....I lived a good life

If I'm right.....call it fire insurance !!

I had those rocky moments before, but I always made it back on track. I think, that made my relationship with God more "realistic".

Was pretty committed to it when I was young. My father died. It took a hit then. Then I lost my job. Funny how that can affect the way people treat you. That made me think perhaps it wasn't a path that I wanted to be on. Now, I do my best to treat other people well, but generally avoid committing to any organised religion.

My faith in humanity is wavering, as I watch the world slowly being destoyed and people being selfish and uncivilized.

Religious faith, I never developed as I became a freethinker at a very young age. Thanks to my parents, who allowed me to stop going to church at 11, because it didn't make sense to me. My mind remained open...

Perhaps, but the fact of losing my particuular faith and being aware of having done so, suggests that I will always have faith in something, and that I'm only disenchanted with my previous 'brand' of belief.

I lost my faith in church and people years ago. Today's world is the me society. I want more or gimme this and that. This is mine or you can't have it. Whatever happened to lets help this person or give this person a chance. There are too many people out there that don't give a damn. This makes me angry.

Why did I lose faith in the church? It was not the fellow worshipers. It was the pastor of that church. He spoke of tithes and opened his bible to preach gods word. Yes I gave and gave until I found out that the money he was collecting was not going to where it was supposed to go. He was spending it on himself and then he had the nerve to say that the devil made him do it. I lost my faith in god that day and have never gone back.

Why did I lose faith in people? Thankfully it is not my immediate family whom I love and cherish. It is those people whom only think of themselves. It is those people that work at cutting the throats of the people that they are in charge of. It is the greedy rich whom don't care about others. All they think about is getting richer. They don't care about the homeless or the poor who struggle from day to day just to survive. They don't care about the people who have lost their jobs because their company might go under due to a recession.

Will we survive as an intelligent species on this planet? The way we are going I highly doubt it. Take a look at the world around us. People fighting each other because of differences in religion or differences of opinion. The greedy rich controlling the poor and the working middle class and controlling the majority of the worlds finances. Until these people decide to give up their riches, the world is going to continue to destroy itself.

I guess I will have to say that I don't give a damn about anybody but myself just to survive.

Man is going to have to change in order for me and many others to regain our faith.

yeah, but I guess that's because I don't like the word "faith"- it feels so...blindly religious...

I lost my faith but then regained it when I learnt more science and had a better grounding in logic.

I have never lost it BUT I did have a period where I was really far from GOD. I have always had faith . Faith can be a hard thing but if you understand the reason behind it , it makes faith easier .
Having Faith according to what we know is not the faith of GOD. For example. you are having a rough time and just want to figure things out so you petition GOD to help you but the answer you received was not what you really wanted .
Faith is accepting what GOD has done as the right thing and knowing in your heart that all will be well. That's Faith. It's not what we want but what GOD wants that makes faith work.
That's why I say I have never lost Faith. I may have had a itty bit on some occasions but still I had faith.
I hope I could help you :)
