"Things ain't what they used to be and never were." Will Rogers
There are truly great actors even today. However, the "star" system instituted by the studios has passed--and reporters are quick to point out the stars' problems. It sells more papers.

No way. I think movies today are better than they ever were. And I love most actor/actresses that are over 30.

I think some actors step it up, creatively, when they mature . . .

Though there are some really good actors I believe the days of really great ones is past. The system for promoting them and putting them into roles has changed.

well I for 1 sure don't. There are many great actors today; Denzel, Gary Oldman, Clive Owen,Charize Theron, Angela Jolle,, Deniro and Pacino- obviously. Now that I think about more about ur ?, I would say there's MORE great actors today then ever b4.

Not just actors but entertainers as a whole. There won't be any more truly great singers, dancers, actors, etc. Because most of the younger people I know accept mediocrity. They're perfectly happy with so-so movies and albums because they've never known anything better. Nicki Minaj seems fine when you don't know who Tina Turner is. The Jabbawockeez seem like great dancers when you've never watched the Nicholas Brothers. Kristen Stewart appears to be a good actress when you've never watched Meryl Streep really crush a scene. As long as we accept mediocrity, Hollywood will keep serving up big heaping platters.

One or two still around, but sadly, yes they are. No one seems to care about good actors anymore, like myself.
