    what makes you think it is harmful? brushing teeth with baking soda is good. toothpaste has baking soda in it..i was brought up that if toothpaste wasnt available to use baking soda and i still use it off and on just because it cleans better then toothpaste.

    read about the benefits and that it can also wear down the enamel because of the grittiness

    my dad used it for years and never had any issues. but if it is a worry then ask the dentist to for a method of retaining the enamel ..i do believe they have mouthwashes and such for just that.

    I do that a lot... dentist said it won't hurt my teeth and I hate foamy tooth paste in the morning.
