Violent crime (except for gun deaths) has been going down all over the US for years.

For the better? How do we know, or how can we be sure? So far, nothing has stopped the fraud and cheating from going on and on, so.....?

For the better. Barclays was the bank that got caught fixing their LIBOR rates, but if one bank did it then all of the world banks would have to be involved. If you're curious, check out this link. http://divinecosmos.com/start-here/davids-blog/1066-great-revealing

I keep hearing all this talk about how terrible the economy is and how it's supposedly becoming so difficult to live in America and it's like the financial apocalypse or something, but my experiences do not corroborate these accounts.

I'm not sure the 46 million Americans now living in official poverty, the 1+ million homeless students, and the 13+ million unemployed would agree...the US has a long history of hiding those who are suffering from those who are not. Just a few blocks from the White House, for instance, there are areas of DC that are bathed in poverty, but you hardly see this on the news. I'm glad your life is going well.

So with the US's long history of hiding suffering, how is it so much different now than it ever was?
