Kids of the present era are cruel and mean; some disrespectful as well. Not all of them, but most. But I guess it all depends on the parents; how they are raising their kids.

Some are both cruel and honest because they are stating what they believe to be true, but they understand that what they say can hurt someone. You can be both cruel and honest at the same time, and I think that is often what happens. But kids can be quite cruel with the names they call each other and the way they treat one another. There are times when a kid just states something as he sees it, without thought as to how it will affect someone else's feelings. I guess that isn't cruel so much, since it isn't intended to be that way, but it is without consideration, which many kids haven't developed the capacity for yet.

Both. They lack tact. It's something you develop as a result of being an idiot in social situations and being held accountable for it. They eventually either learn what to say and what not to say, or they're ostracized.

I told my 3 year old that i wanted him to stay my little boy forever. he looked at me, cupped my face in his hands and said "mommy, i will have to leave you someday, but not yet so don't worry" how he knew this, i do not know, but he was not afraid to tell me what was going to happen, and reassured me that everything was going to be ok.
