    People are more likely to meet someone and commit, and at the same time more likely to cheat using the same medium.

    No more likely the opposite. Internet and phone contact has an almost 100% failure rate. It must be person to person or you have no chance.

    I hadn't thought about that, but then again the Internet might lead to phone contact, which in turn might lead to meeting, and then getting to know someone. Who knows.

    Might. It's more likely to lead to meeting a predator, Paedo or ID stealer though isn't it? The point is any actual dating going on arranged by internet is known to fail anyway so why bother at all? rare exceptions but way more sad stories than successes.

    Well, as TheBlackGuru put it, the increased accessibility may make it difficult to commit to one, as there are so many to choose from. Then again, it might make one value those who may be in a minority of individuals who think like the ones doing the choosing.
