No, not necessarily. But, as a general rule, one's parents' perceptions and judgments about whom to date are, most of the time, better than their kids' decisions in that area. For one thing, parents will very rarely choose anyone who would hurt the child they raised. Parents make conservative judgments about our dates. You are better off listening to them and dating people they like, at least until you are old enough to live on your own.
The date will be on their best behaviour in front of them (an act of course), so your parents will be hoodwinked. Mind you, you'll want their blessing with your choice, and that's more important.
