Are repressed memories of distasteful childhood events valid? Or do we just sort of push them to the back of our minds?
Is it possible to just blank out things that you don't want to remember? Or is that gambit just a ruse to bring back later fantasies that can be used for personal gain or to do damage to someone? What would be the threshold of suppression? There has been a lot of people ruined by this, is it really possible?

It seems to me that repressing memories and pushing them to the back of our minds, is pretty much the same thing except, one is done willfully ( pushing ) and the other is done subconciously.
