Yes. Money makes life harder, and the extent that some people will go to get a green piece of paper in order to buy something shiny is ridiculous. If something's free, then that's one less thing people have to worry about working for. It's especially true for those of us who aren't the most fortunate in the first place. If you mean it in a general sense, then it all depends. Maybe you were supposed to get that free something, because otherwise things would turn out differently. If someone is inherently lazy, then maybe the universe threw them a line in order to make things easier or motivate them in order for them to be able to work at their own pace to get whatever else they want/need. It all depends on who, what, when, where, why, and how.
