Yes there are. They are taught by family members, friends, shooting instructors. They feel safer and the criminals feel scared. It's an unsafe world out there and the cops can't be everywhere at once. Prepare yourself just in case you happen to be unlucky enough to have a crime perpetrated against you.

I'm sure they are. I wouldn't own one. People who own guns are idiots.

I'll let that adolescent namecalling slide because you are what, 18? You probably overheard mommy and daddy say that people who own guns are stupid because most 18 year olds are completely uninformed so they can't form an intelligent opinion about anything but their looks

I have guns and have been shooting since I was a youngster. My grandfather taught me and bought me my first at age 17. Yes, I feel safer, but only because I know what to do with it.
They are not a joke and not to be taken lightly. They should be kept in a place where children and fools can't get a hold of them.

Dont even consider having a gun for self protection unless you are prepared to use it to take a life. You cant just point it and think they will get scared and **** them selfs, you have to be ready and able to kill.
If thats not you, then maybe a stun gun would be a better choice.

Domestic violence. I didn't know he was a convicted offender. I stopped him from beating his son, who was as it turned out, kidnapped out of the state. So he threatenened to kill me. I survived. The kids' mom allowed him to beat her and them for years until she got a convictionon him. So he lied about everything to me, and made me an unwitting party to kidnap. I used my weapon and saved myself when he attacked me.

Yeah, the strange noises in the house. Recently I had to start using a wheelchair and I live alone. It's something I want to do, own a gun and learn to respect it and aim well. You have a healthy attitude and respect for guns I see.

I would add; Never point a gun at anyone that you dont intend to kill. Every gun is loaded even when it is empty! If you point a gun at some one it should be your last option.

I have had two exes who liked guns and wouldn't teach me in a fit of self-preservation. The way those two turned out I should be thanking them or I would be in prison as we speak

Guns kill. That's their purpose. No guns, and people have to get personal. Killing doesn't need to be made easy. Only a week ago a 13 year old in Western Australia took a loaded gun to school for show-n-tell. People don't kill... guns do.
