Are we so graceless as Americans that we can't applaud Brazil for landing the Olympics?

i'm happy for them - i think it will be fun to watch and learn about their culture...i'd love to visit there, i'd love to visit the whole planet for that matter, but since that's unrealistic, i can watch on tv.

i don't think chicago would have been a good choice - too much gang violence. sure, it might have boosted morale for chicago and be good for the economy, but i don't think gang violence would be solved. and now, we don't have to worry about another terrorist attack because you know "they" would have tried.

I was thinking about that yesterday. BO did call and congratulate the Brazilian President however why they needed to drag Oprah and make such a gross display of wealth in Copenhagen is beyond me. What a waste of money. I will say that Detriot could have used the money to jump start their economy and I think Chicago is fairly close but the money that was spent to try to get The Olympics here was a gross amounts. Our Oympic Czar's don't know sheet. Just goes to show you BO and Oprah displaying their wealth can't buy some things. I am Greek so i can say that.. I have earned that much. =)

Its just how so many things are these days......They do not always follow logic,..or go for what might be best overall....
Its kinda funny that the american mind might be aghast at the dubious economic equation, of holding the games in Rio.....Specially since Rio did just cancel some other sporting event due to no funds.....
But really when it comes to finances and economics and making right choices,....well need i say/type more??

What will happen to the street children of Rio? My guess is a quiet extermination.
