Don't like men pretending to be macho... Quiet strength is what does it for me, real men are breadwinners, caring, loving, looking after their women as their priority. They don't need to act macho they're real men 

100% Agree I think the problem is men think being the tough guy is what makes them men... "I can protect" you kinda thing but I am more interested in the guys that can protect me but don't let on or brag about it...
The braggers are usually the ones that would chicken out anyway.

my experience is that most of us women don't like it so I still don't understand why so many men do it.... clearly its not a turn on for most of us so why?

It's probably a throwback to caveman days. Hardwired in from pre historic times. It may still work if one is naturally macho and not just a tryhard, with some women...
