I didn't know that...and NO it is definitely NOT okay with me. I came to this site specifically because it was anonymous, and because I could be anonymous here. I could work out the darkest parts of my disease, talk about the parts of my life I am not so proud of, and generally deal with the parts of my life that should NOT be made public. Oh boy. How do I keep my privacy if EP is going to allow it to be broadcast outside of the confines of the "safe" site??

I don't think it's EP allowing things to be broadcast outside of this site. I think it's the way the internet has evolved. You can hardly find any place anymore that does not have the Twitter and Facebook "share" buttons.

If you're really anonymous here, I really think it's unsafe, but it seems like there should be some safe zones here on EP where there are no share buttons.

Hence another reason that EP needs to step away from the crowd of the idiot sites... You can't share any of the sh*t on here so why share on there? Then people wonder why EP is changing so much and why it isn't fun anymore. DUH!!!!

It is with consent..if you take the time to read the terms and agreements..instead of just checking the box..all sites have them when you sign up..Think first, then you have no regrets.

Wait a minute... Did you know that any *email* you write, on Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, your work, can be shared on Facebook, Twitter and blogs without your consent? Why yes, yes it can. So this question is kind of a moot point.

EP has always told members to NOT share personal pictures, addresses, phone numbers, etc if they want to remain anonymous. Their point was that It doesn't matter if the website was behind Fort Knox; once you type something onto a computer, and it can be seen by anyone else, including your best friends, the possibility exists for that other person to share it without your knowledge.

There's nothing new here. Use common sense. I honestly want as many people to read my stories as possible, that's why I write them. If I only want my buds here to read them, I'd post a friends-only blog, which requires login and to be my friend (but remember, anyone can copy and paste my blog if they wanted to...).

No and no. What are they used for? Does someone make money on my "private" honesty? Will EP tell you if they do?
Guess I won't be posting any more carefully thought stories.
If enough details are put together, a person becomes identifiable which is against the spirit of this site!

No one could make money on stories. Only EP makes money through their advertisers on this site and members paying for the upgrade. If someone shares on Twitter, Facebook & blogs, no money is made.

One would have to go through great lengths to put enough details together to identify a person I would think. I personally don't think it's really a problem.

Right & that's why it's probably a good idea to be careful about what you post on sites like this.

My 11yo son got in trouble last week over something he wrote on FB....the school principal made sure I knew that it was ILLEGAL for him to even be on FB. I like EP cause its anonymous.

By posting my stories on the internet I take the risk of someone plagiarizing my work. They can use or publish my work as their own, but they can't write like me. Only I can right new material in the very same way that I think. They can try to copy me; yet, there's only one original.

I'm not overly worried. Yes, if someone was REALLY determined, they could probably connect enough dots to figure out who I am in real life. So what? I've not posted anything here I'm ashamed of, and if someone likes my writing/ideas enough to share them, I'm flattered.

By the same token, I do chose to not post some things. Current projects-in-progress or creative works that I intend to publish later will not appear here.

It's simple, really. Whenever you're online, assume that what you put up could go viral.

I don't mind so much. I chose not to be anonymous here and am perfectly fine with what I've chosen to share here.

Most people who know me know all these things about me anyway.
