Resolved Question

Are you flattered, annoyed, suspicious or self conscious when asked about your ethnicity?

I was just curious about this one because I used to work in a convenience store where the less questions the better. I also expect that if you come from say Kosovo area or any other area that was subject to ethnic cleansing - you may be less ambivalent.

I'm flattered and will probably take the opportunity to ramble on and on about the origins of the various lines of my family. For this reason, the person who asks me about my ethnicity will probably regret doing so.

I usually get asked because of my accent. I am self conscious period. Yay..panic attacks. But it doesn't make much difference. If I wasn't so nervous..whenever I'm around people..I may be flattered that someone actually took the time to see me.

Don't care. Different people have spoken/asked questions to me in their own languages assuming we come from the same place, now I wonder what exactly do they see??

People rarely ask cause its obvious that I'm BLACK. I'd be intrigued if anyone asked me anything about my roots.

Flattered because it means that someone is curious about me and if it's a girl is a real good sign because it means that at least on some level she's interested.

I tell them "I'm a European mutt". I don't care when they ask. People are mostly just curious. If they're asking out of prejudice then that's their problem.

I always feel curious about what people think of Dutch people. Sometimes people will think that being Dutch means that you are high all the time and party in Amsterdam. But I am quite the opposite of that.
Its interesting to find out the worlds view on Dutch people, so that gives me curiousity when someone askes my my ethnicity. I also know that people will often think that I am Spanish they are often surprized when they find out I am not.

If anyone on the internet wants to know, I really don't care. Anyone who saw me in person would not need to ask

Curious as to why they'd be asking but not suspicious, annoyed or self conscious. I'm pretty open-minded.

I live in a different country from where is was born and I have moved around ever since so my accent is kinda crazy too. But then you have my ethnic background and I am very mixed.

So I do care and I don't cos every one asks "do you like this country or that". And they always think I am black but I don't have any African genes or simular. Just a really mixed european background with a small bit of native n.z. I just want to say to them that I am me.

None of the above. It doesn't bother me at all if people ask, which they don't usually do. I could see how someone might get annoyed if they were asked all the time.

Naw, I'm such a mutt that by the time I get done naming all the nationalities in my ancestry, they're usually sorry they asked!
