I am ok with it as long as it isn't an ex and they aren't always going off without me. Then there would be a problem. I am even ok with my bf still being friends with an ex as long as I am included but not a best friend. I have several male friends and a couple are exes but guys seem to not want that.

Eh, I am not totally sure. My current boyfriend has a handful of female friends, and in years past he has slept with and/or dated all of them, and I am actually still fine with that. But in my experience BEST FRIENDS is a different thing, and you sometimes even confide in your best friend about your current relationship, serious feelings, dreams, thoughts, etc. I don't think I would feel totally comfortable if he were THAT close to any of his female friends.
My ex husband had about 4 "best friends" and one was female. However, she was 20 years older than him and a butch lesbian. Not to sound bad (I love this woman to death, she is awesome) but it was more like her just actually being a guy, there was no sexual tension, etc. So I didn't mind that at all.Like (2)

How long were they friends? if it's a longtime friend or just a friend, no problem. I have many guy friends, it's fine.
Here is where I draw the line, if it's someone crushing on him or an ex fawning all over him, either way, she's after him. Guys, act blind to this, while stroking their ego. "Just a friend, BS".

Yes but there would be an ounce of jealousy, even though I would try and suppress it. It's not that I have an issue with my boyfriend having close female friends, its because I would want to be his best friend as well as his lover. That is the kind of relationship that I am looking for.

Absolutely. Friends shouldn't be gender specific. People should get over themselves and realise that being in a relationship does not entitle you to state who your partner should and shouldn't hang out with.
