A lot depends on who the person is and whether I think the person actually cares one whit about me.

It depends on who says it, and the situation that it's said in. Sometimes it can be very offensive to me.

    hello, jthitt

i feel more confused than anything else

if there is a god...and he is all powerful

and he knows what is right and what is wrong

then why is he going to bother listening to someone asking to make my life better.

i just don't get it..... but i do accept their good intentions and respect their beliefs.

    respect, from robbie

I think it would be pedantic to be offended by it. I'm an aethiest but if someone says they are praying for me I accept it in the manner with which they intend it, to be kind and thoughtful and I thank them, even if I don't believe it will be of any help to me it's always nice to know that you're in somene's thoughts.

I think it's a comment of kindness but don't really take it too seriously -- I thank them.

Being agnostic, I don't really care - but it also depends who it is.

When I was nursing, we would often have clergy come round the wards (usually C of E or Catholics) who would bless you, and from them I would accept it in the way it was intended - as a kindly act.

If however it's some evangelist at the door trying to proselytise and ram his opinions down your throat I'm afraid I can rather short with them !
