This happens to me frequently and I am always feel frustrated at myself for not speaking up and defending myself.

    Yes. I don't argue with stupid people. Or else they will bring me down to their level and beat me with experience.

    If someone insults you, they are rude and cheap. Is it worth the effort?

    I'm very quick and can shut someone down immediately. It's when I don't say something I regret it later.

    Yes, I try to avoid them too because when my temper blows I always life to regret it. Like the time a co-workers harassed for years about how much I ate (and I am skinny and she is fat). Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and said to her "you must eat a lot judging from the way you look." And she said...I didn't finish my statement and I said "I don't understand why you are so skinny?" After she said that...I felt so small for hurting her feelings and creeped away.

    There are usually a lot of words running through my mind. I don't always voice them, though. Kind of depends on who insults me and whether I care at all about what they think.
