My mom was so amazingly sweet to me. She made me a hand-written menu (with about 5 different things), and would make whatever I picked from the list. :) My favorite would be a toss up between cheese omelet, and pancakes with maple syrup. Yum!

Being poor has its advantages...all meals were home cooked (on the farm)..,the aroma in the kitchen of fresh baked bread ham bacon eggs..was always great. But the atmosphere of gaiety on the breakfast table was what I enjoyed most.

When I was really young, I was an absolute grouch when I woke up (okay, I still am). Anyway, the only thing I would say when I woke up was "I want waffles" with a big pout. My mom would try to engage me in conversation and I would just get progressively more pissed off the longer I didn't get waffles. I love my mom for putting up with me :-)

Never seen it. We had the little containers with the plastic spreaders and the lid screwed on with an orange ring. It's so funny to remember this.

My mom used to make us pancakes in the shape of letters, like in our names. Me and my sister loved that. She would just drizzle the batter on the griddle and make letters. I thought that was really cool.

Cream of wheat with sugar sprinkled on top. If you put the right amount it would melt and harden to a crust that was like candy. Problem was once you got past that top layer it wasn't so good anymore :(
