    the date of July 4, 1776 isn't just an important date in US history. It is a monumental moment in world history.

    Furthermore it is no accident that almost every country or government that has been established SINCE that date looks to the US model

    I don't know who named it that or when. I've heard it most often referred to as The Revolutionary War or simply The Revolution.
