As a single parent do you ever worry about passing away through the night and your toddler finds you in the morning?

I just had some terrible news of an elderly friend passing away alone in her home last night. She managed to call the ambulance but passed as she was having trouble breathing. It really freaked me out as she lived alone and so do I with no family here.

I have thought about that also. It is something that could definitely happen and we as single mothers have to take precautions in every facet for our children. I have diabetes but keep it monitered and under control, hopefully nothing will happen, but you never know. Never say never. I have been teaching my son to call the right people to come and help me and exactly what to do if something was to happen. All I can do is pray that if this was to happen oneday that my son won't be anywhere near to be spared that.

Aren't you a barrel of laughs! Even we married parents have these morbid thoughts. I think they are a continuation of mental growth that began with pregnancy.

These are normal legitimate fears. I've heard stories of it happening to families. As a single parent I would come up with some elaborate scenarios in which to protect my children from ever finding me dead. It was never necessary, but I put the plans in place anyway. You do what you need to do to feel safe.
