I think it depends on how you define culture or which culture you are referring to. Given the current version of our culture, I don't think that atheism has a negative effect on it. In fact, atheism fits in very nicely with our consumer culture, which thrives on instant gratification, unlimited mobility, unlimited information, an endless competition of ideas, and unlimited choice. So, if you like our modern culture, then atheism gives you the maximum flexibility.
By the way, I'm not an atheist.Like (1)

Although I am not an atheist, I believe that atheism serves to broaden culture's purview. Those who profess to be atheists are, at the very least, actively contemplating theistic perspectives. I believe that the overwhelming threat to culture, and society in general, is the creeping atrophy of contemplation.

Humans have created and destroyed past present and future.....
they are all reflections of us....even if all that will be left is dirt and bones....we are what we are....and that shows itself anew every day.....through religion and atheism, spoken word and painting....conversation and act......it shows itself in infinitely many ways....destroy culture....my good man you couldn't do it if we all tried our best! Because in our attempt we would have made anew and chase our own tail!Like (1)
