Australia's conservative coalition is set to cut more than 90 percent of the funding related to global warming from their budget, from $5.75 billion this year to $500 million, over the next four years."The carbon tax is an act of economic vandalism," Abbott said in March. The carbon tax was imposed by former Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard in the summer of 2012, and quickly became unpopular as businesses and households began to bear the costs of higher power bills and higher inflation. In the USA I expect our juice prices will rise much more than 15% due to Obama's "global warming" plans.

The current Australian government is full of ******* imbeciles. Mostly catholics who deny climate science. Whilst they may be getting rid of the carbon pricing scheme they intend to up the tax on fuel which will impact most families far more than the carbon price ever did. This government won't last long.

"The carbon tax is an act of economic vandalism," Abbott said in March.
The carbon tax was imposed by former Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard in the summer of 2012, and quickly became unpopular as businesses and households began to bear the costs of higher power bills and higher inflation.
"Poor policy processes tend to lead to poor policy outcomes," wrote Dr. Alex Robson, economist at Australia's University of Brisbane, in a study prepared for the Institute for Energy Research, which opposes a carbon tax. "Australia's carbon tax experience provides a number of important lessons in how not to go about implementing sensible climate change policy."
After just one year, the carbon tax increased taxes on 2.2 million Australians, according to Robson, and has done nothing to decrease the country's carbon emissions.

Tony Abbott supported a carbon tax prior to the previous government bringing it in. He then used the Murdoch media to spread propaganda against it. I don't know what right wing website you got that crap from but it's probably owned by Murdoch as well. Still you didn't answer my question. Are you a denier of the science as well?

Robson also found that a year after being enacted, the carbon tax caused electricity prices to rise 15 percent. The country's unemployment rate shot up by 10 percent after the carbon tax was implemented.
"The carbon tax is bad for the economy and it doesn't do any good for the environment," Abbott An interview with Australia’s Tony Abbott last year. "The carbon tax was basically socialism masquerading as environmentalism, and that's why it's

Best Answer

That's bullshit. Robson is just another conservative mouthpiece for the Murdoch media.
The carbon tax was used to set up a $10 billion fund to help renewable energy investment and research. Any price increases to electricity were helping to reduce energy use and there were major subsidies for installation of home solar systems which 100's of thousands of Australians took advantage of. Given time the carbon tax and the investment from it would have made a huge difference in this country. Just about every other economist in the country agreed the carbon tax was the best way to tackle carbon emissions in this country especially in terms of costs to the economy. So where are you getting this nonsense from? It's surely some Murdoch publication isn't is?

There is some good news for climate change funding and the scientific research community that is facing down the barrel of the Abbott government’s budget. Until the budget passes the senate, there will be no changes to funding and organization of the sector. For now, climate change research is safe from getting axed and if the senate does not allow the budget to go through, the jobs that could be lost will still exist in Australia’s renewable energy sector.

well the US climate report just came out saying that we already ****** up and there is no longer anything we can do about it. our time to fix the problem is done and over. all we can do is mitigate the situation. so as Colbert said "**** it". we were warned, but we were to worried about what the polls said about how many americans believe in climate change, and as much as climatologist kept insisting that opinions don't actually matter when the science is already in, we said nooo!!! i know that climate change isn't real because some pundit told me... so now i say **** it. let everything go down and let us be considered the stupid generation for not doing anything when we had the chance.

Something can be done to ease the suffering. If you have a contagious sick person in a room you probably wouldn't want to bring lots of people into that room until the person heeled some.

Probably the most irresponsible and reckless thing that the govt. of a country so susceptible to climate change could ever do. But what else would you expect from a complete idiot with no grasp of science or precious little else for that matter.

Check out how much Florida is going to be putting aside for the effects of climate change that are happening now and maybe you will realise just how stupid you sound.

Best Answer

Weather cannot be Judged. It is not what Florida is going through because that happened since time started. What is going in Florida is the effect the people feel from moving on the land and much of that are extremely rich people with boats and what not. One side of the country dry the other side recorded snow. Nothing new here but the millionaires that are thirsty. Next the west floods and the east dry. You really think giving Obama money will fix that?

A useful example is provided by Miami. The city is built on top of porous limestone and its foundations are now absorbing water from rising seas at an alarming rate. Water now bubbles up through pipes and drains and taints fresh water supplies while seawater regularly flows out of drains into streets, which become flooded.

Civil engineers currently estimate that the cost of putting right the damage to Miami could rise to billions of dollars and that, please note, is the price that a single city will have to pay to deal with just one aspect of global warming. Repeat it across the globe and you get a notion of the vast cost we now face for having failed to deal with climate change for the past two decades and for faltering in our commitment to agree to curb emissions of carbon dioxide from our factories, power plants and cars.

The result of this continued inaction has been straightforward: climate change – once a far-off threat – is now upon us and is already bringing alarming change to our planet, as the citizens of Miami are now experiencing, along with those living near spreading deserts in Africa, in the far north where tundras are melting, and in high mountain areas in the Andes and Himalayas whose glaciers are now disappearing. As Leonard Berry, director of the Florida Centre for Environmental Studies at Florida Atlantic University puts it: "Climate change is not a future thing, it's a 'happening now' thing."

Yes evolution is happening right before us. They say in time that all the continents will join back together again. I think the weather might be different then too. If you put 1000.00 people in one place and the weather goes bad it happens. If you put millions in one place and the weather goes bad it is the end of the world. Make a tax for carbon based babies to slow that down.

Do not be deceived. Australia has scalar weapons, and that is the real reason why the Abbott government is cutting the spending to climate change: they know it is being manipulated and that it is war, and that there is nothing we can do about it except protect our relationship with China and artificially mitigate the effects for as long as possible. Having said that, I would far sooner be living here than in the USA under Obama.
