Hi MMc2012
It is easy. I have been there. The way out is set a time to get up. Say 0530 like me! Then get up. A few days of hell maybe but go to bed early say 2100 and sleep for 8 hours and then get up and repeat! I use herbal sleeping tablets to help get me off to sleep. I am now pretty much sorted out again! The key thing is get up early even if you feel tired. Good luck hope it helps.

Melatonin supplements are great for helping you fall to sleep naturally at night. They are non habit-forming and all-natural. Turning off the TV or computer at least an hour before bed is also very helpful. Electronics "switch on" a certain part of your brain that makes it hard to relax. I usually read at night, and it puts me right to sleep.

You just have to make yourself do it. Force yourself into a normal sleep pattern for a week, and it should get easier. Set a time to get up in the morning, use lots of coffee, and fix yourself a good breakfast. Maybe program the coffee maker the night before, so you get awoken by that nice smell. :-)

Tylenol sleep aid and its non-addictive. its helps you go to sleep and they dont have you all drowsy in the morning you actually feel refresed. I've been out late and took one at 3 in the morning and woke up at 7 feeling like I slept for 10 hours!

When I was in the military we had an odd schedule... work 3 day shifts (6am-6pm) have 36 hours off and then work 3 night shifts (6pm-6am) then have 72hrs off and go back to days. The key for us was to stay up the extra time when shifts transitioned. From days to nights we would stay up those 36 hours then work the night shift. When the next morning came you could sleep the 12 hours and be set for the nights. When the 3 night shifts ended we would stay up until 10pm, then be so tired you would sleep all night and be on a day schedule again.

Just stay up until the time you need to go to bed for a good nights rest. Don't nap at all... you may need to repeat but it will get you on track again. Good luck!

I've been on some pretty crazy sleep schedules myself.

The only thing I can do is sleep when I'm tired, and try to get to bed at the time that I should sleep at to get up at the time I want to be awake at (for example, since I need to wake up around 5 a.m., I try to go to bed before 9 p.m., though it doesn't always work).

Hopefully, eventually you'll get back into the right pattern.
