Being born again?

What do you think about a person who has been spiritually born again ? Someone who has confessed all their sins to God, and has vowed to never do them again, and has never done them again.

If you are one of those people, have you ever or will you ever tell your spouse/friends/family about your horrible past if you are a completely different person now? Would you keep it to yourself?

I once was brides maid, and the bride took me aside and confessed all sorts of things that she had done.

After the wedding, she wouldn't speak to me anymore, because I didn't think those things were as horrible as she did-- I also wasn't the one who had done them.

Revealing things of your past is about trust mostly. I would hope most people trust thier spouse enough to be honest with them, if not you will have many troubles ahead. Family probly already know. Friend just need to know enough. If it does not effect your day to day life, no reason to go around blabbing about it, but those closet to you, if they know may help you not to repeat what you did if the situation ever came up. This is true if you are a born again believer or just trying to get your life together.
Just a side note, it does not mean you will never sin again, just that you are forgiven. Still have consequences though.

I haven't made these vows to God. Vows are very serious, I wouldn't make them to ANYONE unless I was sure that I could keep them. I have done horrible things in my past, but I do not keep them from anyone who is important to me, or anyone who asks me about my past. I am not ashamed of the things that I have done, they were mistakes, we all make mistakes. I am proud of who I am today, and without the mistakes of my past, who I am today could never have been.

Don't you think it's pointless? Doesn't God already know how we regret the bad things we've done in our lives? Doesn't God already know our thoughts, feelings, cares and concerns that make us "us"?

Just curious

"What do you think about a person who has been spiritually born again ?"

Extremely rare. That's what I think.

Well... Unless restitution is involved, why bring up something that has been covered?

I wouldn't just volunteer dark facts from my past, but I wouldn't lie about them either.

I am a Born Again Christian. It doesn't make me perfect, just forgiven. Whenever I sin, it bothers me and I confess my sins to Jesus who is willing to forgive me. He who began a good work in me shall complete it until the time of His coming. I still struggle with sin like everyone else. Those who are not Born Again struggle with sin and are unable to overcome it because they do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Everyone of them can know Him if they choose to do so. With Christ working in me, I am more than a conquerer and will eventually get the victory over every sin in my life until Christ comes again.

Ask Jimmy Carter. He's the one who thrust this term on us.
It makes about as much since as "getting saved."
It also ridiculous to think a person can confess all their sins to God...
***************************************
"and has vowed to never do them again, and has never done them again."

As such, no one can answer your question.

*************************************

Also to note you covered a lot of different view points in one question. That is grace versus works for getting saved or born again. If it is a gift from God, i.e. John3:16 why does one work for it. Do you work for a gift?
Is it a gift if you must confess all your 'known' sins to get the gift of being born again? Must you confess the ones you forget as you remember them in the future? If you sin will you lose the free gift?
What is a free gift? Do you give a gift to someone and then tell them what to do with the gift?
My introduction to the above came from a fundamentalist Baptist church where I was told I had to walk the aisle as the church sang "Just as I Am' to receive the free gift of eternal life.
I hope you can see the contradictions in the above
including the name of the song, the invitation to "walk the aisle" . The invitation by the way which is an American invention by Charles Finney, a lawyer turned preacher.

It's just a "spiritual" term or excuse to try and move on in life with a renewed focus. Nothing mystical, in reality.

your question makes me think of "secrecy" vs. "privacy." i am wondering if your fiance sees these as the same or does he see a distinction. so many things to learn about someone before marriage...i have never done it myself so i can't say. but i hope you resolve your dilemma and best wishes on your marriage.

i don't think saying you are born again means that you are free from the consequences of your behavior. people remember and judge us according to how we have lived. what God judges, i don't know. it's none of my business how God judges.

If a do-over is what you need to feel good about yourself, go ahead.
