People so underestimate their buying power in this country.

Look what happened when everyone got a little more frugal about their spending. Just think if this could be organized and targeted for political reasons.

The trick would be getting enough people to cooperate. Enough people who would care enough to change something rather than save $10 on those sneakers from Walmart that were made in a Chinese sweat shop.

That money flow causes quick and real change. Much better than voting.

Pay attention.
Speak up.
Act out.
Rage against the ******* machine.
Stop being a slave to commerce.

Those are simple things you can do. Good luck.

Examine your life and decide how it could be bettered as a lifestyle. Then change that lifestyle and live it as the best example of what you are aware is best.

When you can successfully do that - even in a small way - others will notice, and some will be inspired to do likewise.
And as said above, make yourself aware of what's going on, and be vocal about the solutions you see would be useful.

So may are too apethetic to get off their ***** and even write their representatives. "A government of the people" used to mean something. Once in a primary election for the State here in Alabama five and a half percent of eligible voters turned out. that is very sad. Society is doomed in my book until people realize that we get exactly what we deserve in the end. Write your representatives; call them; write the president[ write the newspaper; stand on the corner and tell people hat you thing - about one percent of voters do that.

Write to your congressman/senator/state representative(s). Send them emails on every subject you feel strongly about, or call their office. Aides and staffers really do track these things.

Write to your local newpaper on subjects you are passionate about.

Pay attention to the bills going through your local, state, and federal government. Watch how your representatives vote, and hold them accountable at the elections.

Do not get drawn into partisan politics. Don't accept what you see in election ads at face value. Use the internet to research claims made by canditates; while most are technically true, many are taken out of context, or do not tell the whole story.

Being a citizen is about much more than voting every 2 or 4 years. In fact, that's only a start.

The best way to effect change. Is to stand up and be counted. The people of this country have forgotten. That if these people don't do what they say there going to do, We put them in office we can take them out. If we as the voting public would not let them stay till the end of there term when they are doing a bad job. It would show them all we will not tolerate there crap anymore. Also I think we need more business type people in office instead of lawyers. I think all these people in office have forgotten what it is like to have to bust there butts for a living. Basically we need a Revolution of sorts.

PURCHASING POWER. Buy organic fruits and veg. Buy a hybrid car or wait for a fully electric car. Buy products grown or made in America. Recycle everything. Buy an alternative with less packaging material. Boycott advertisers. Don't follow current trends, pioneer your own for whatever you care about.
