It of course depends on what you value in a friend. Friendships are two-way relationships after all. Be the friend you'd wish to have and you'll attract the same.

Agreed, to bad attracting them and keeping them are two different things. I often make a mistake of assuming others are far too similar to me than they are. That can lead to big trouble.

I think it's ok to assume they are the same until you learn otherwise. And let's face it, we will have very few lifetime friends. Enjoying the moments we have together is the most important thing as the future is always unpredictable.

Unwavering, unapologetic, complete and sincere honesty gets my gears grinding. It's so difficult to find people without masks on these days, like a rare gem in a field of coal.

you say this. i think most people feel this way, but when someone really gets to know you and really lets you have it after you have long been comfortable with a certain level of interaction, you might not stand up to you claim. but then again you might. only time will tell.

I try to be openly honest with people i care for and choose to interact with, and i expect to be treated the same in return. Sometimes people get offended at first, but given time to think about it and the better ones come out less ignorant, while the stubborn ones eventually get over it. I've been told brutal truths about myself, and i only admire the person more for being brave enough to do so, even if the initial blow kinda stings. Though i have trouble connecting with people, so many of my friends are fair weather ones despite the fact. Though i blame nobody but myself for that, and i do occasionally try to be less reclusive.

That like one of those loaded questions asked by swarmy pollsters who want to arrive at a very specific answer. . . would you rather have several good friends or a whole lot of untrustworthy friends?

My questions are usually loaded. The problem with me is I already think I know everything and just want to watch people jump through my mental hoops. Its terribly arrogant, disingenuous, and rather shallow of me, but 90 percent of my waking life is spent bored to death, so I do what I can to entertain myself while giving others a chance to explore themselves.

Unwavering honesty, darling. Why make time for anything less; is your time not valuable? ;-) True friends that you connect with on a deep, truthful level are rare, but that's what makes them gems.

Ha, I think this question WAS kinda politician-y... I'd say you'd make a good one but you are too honest. You dodged that bullet.

Fine answer. Yeah.. no politician here. I would be my own worse opponent agreeing with my opposition about all my faults would not win me too many elections.
