Good because he needs to step down gradually and likes the feeling of knowing that he is important to his country and useful. Be supportive of him. We are all grateful for men like him.
In my openion, good. It is pretty good pay for one weekend per month, and two weeks every summer. His time will count toward retirement too.

Good if he understands he may be deployed again. It is a source of income and training.
With things getting ready to wind down in Afghanistan, his odds of deployment are greatly decreased. So it may not be a bad deal.
I think its difficullt being with someone who wants to be in the army, never get to see them, fear of losing them etc, but i guess if thats what they do then they are going to want to go back..
