You can start at any time. The younger you get started, the better. I believe 3 or 4 is a good time to start. This doesn't mean you can't start now and totally enjoy the experience.

Only if she eats all of her food, so she can become the strongest of all the ballet dancers.

Sure you can, in fact the maturity will help you learn faster. Children that start at 3-4 just learn to listen to the music an do movement exercises to the music. The real dance training begins when a child's attention span is longer and can understand what is being taught or demonstrated. It will hard work and determination to catch up to the girl/boys who started younger, but you can do it.
I was unfortunate in the fact that I didn't have the opportunity to start classes until I was 27. Although after just 6 years of training i was good enough to join a ballet company, doing pointe work and everything I needed to know I was to old. In your case you are a little older than most who start class you can still catch up with hard work you will be able to achieve your goals, whether it is to join a company or just dance for your own pleasure.
From a dancer who dances to feed her souls needs, I wish you luck in achieving whatever your dream is.
