I'm not, nor have I been blind. I don't know any blind people to ask, but I'm going to throw this out.

If someone had sight, then lost it, I don't know why they wouldn't see things. For someone that has been blind at birth, I would say that they 'see' but not in the way that we see. Dream images would be there, they would be images that had meaning to them. Perhaps they would imagine seeing a physical object but without any real life reference it wouldn't be anything we recognize.

Good question!

I check a few online sources, and the general consensus is NO. They don't see images in their dreams as we see them, because the part of the brain that interprets visual stimuli is not used and has atrophied. They experience dreams in the context of their other senses of sound, smell, and touch, maybe even taste.

Of course, this only applies to a person born blind. Like Rusted said, a person who loses their sight already has those visual receptors in place, and the brain remembers images it has already experienced.

I don't know if they can or not, but I like to think that they can. Espeically since when you feel unloved, you become loved in dreams. Anything you are not in "real" life, you can become in dreams. So I'd say Yes, they can.

I have known several blind individuals in my life and many of them do dream and see things, they even imagine what they did that day and what the world may look like. Now all of them had sight at one time, very few individuals are born blind but there have been reports of some of them telling stories of thier dreams and how they see things they have touched during thier life time.
And yes many people who are blind, can surf the internet and interact with others through modern technology. Most blind people even have Tvs and enjoy listening to shows.

You would have to ask a blind person to be sure, but if they were blind from birth I would think not. How would they know what sight is?

They wouldn't be able to tell you (unless they haven't always been blind.) a person who has been blind from birth wouldn't know how to describe 'sight'

Welli cant really aanswe this... but uh... i think they can... maybe if they were blind from birth theyd see something totally differant then what we would see in their dreams, and for deaf people.... They probably do hear because they have hearing aids now so they know what hearing is.

"Of course blind people won't be answering this"...

R-targ. They make braille keyboards and there IS a program that reads webpages.

Yeah, I'd assume since a blind person is only physically handicapped and not MENTALLY handicapped (an impairment which you're demonstrating) they're going to be able to perceive images/thoughts very clearly.
