You absolute cant be from here. It is a popular dish. Its well loved and I have eaten it. It was horrible tasting. I cant believe this people who havent eaten it or even seen it. They probably aint had no tomato gravy either. You have to be kidding. I almost forgot to tell you how to make it. You make a pie the same way you make an apple pie. Minus the apples and replace them with tomatoes. You must bake them in the pie of course. Ive never seen cans of tomato filling. Ive never made a pie. Like I said I hate them. I do make a fine tomato cake. I like to eat it on rare occasions. I might agree with mom about tomato gravy. She says it would gag a maggot. I have an uncle who is a cook. He likes to make it. Several older folks around here lurve it. They say their mom used to make it or whatever. More for them Id say. I wont eat it. I still with the cake if its got to be tomato.

Oh wow! What a great idea! I have never ever heard of it but it sounds different. Well, you know how you use pumpkin puree to make pumpkin pie? Well, I assume you can try using tomato puree to make it and follow the same instructions for a pumpkin pie. Tell me how it goes!

if you are making your own tomato puree, remember to bring to the boil, then leave in the pot to cool to room temperature, and then BOIL AGAIN. It stops the tomatoes going rancid.

I don't understand the science here, but I can tell you , in our house we had a huge batch go off and bloww their lids because my wife forgot about the second boil.
