Resolved Question

Can anxiety cause bad dreams?

I can sleep perfectly, but my dreams are horrible. I'm stressed at the moment. Could they be related, even though the dream subject matters are completely non-related to the initial stress causing incident?

Wow - thanks!

yes Yes YES!!!! I was going through a horrible time several years ago and would dream of spiders coming down the ceiling on me (I am terribly afraid of spiders) I would literally jump out of bed and run out of the room.....once things in my life calmed down, the nightmares did too. **hugs**

A lot of nightmares are caused by worry... Try to let the bad stuff go and try to get rid of the panic.

Definitely! Stressful situations will bring about anything. Our brains are constantly working on overdrive. As strong as we are, we can only put up with so much. Then our bodies react a certain way to deal with it. It is an awful feeling at times because the nightmares make the anxiety worse. It's back and forth,repeatedly....stress=anxiety=nightmares, then vice-versa.

Yes anxiety definetely can affect the nature of your dreams because everything that you are feeling at this moment, every moment gets recorded into your subconcious and either stays there or can come out at the most odd times and yes affect your dreams and everything else we may do.
