Can anyone recommend either stories or books that toy with the philosophy of evil and/or moral good?

Almost every story written has this element, especially childrens fairytales. For a modern take on it look no further than "Star Wars" for the basics of a good versus evil storyline.

Is that a surprise? Good / evil, are really the language of religion anyway. It would be best to look at the occult for that angle I would suggest.Like (1)

Wizard of Oz and Obama's upcoming inauguration speech. Yeah, that will be full of it all. But you want a real eyeopener? Check out his wife's expense account. ***** can **** away money. Man!

how about Star Wars. You know it is about some who is good and then falls from grace and is bad and the journey it takes for him to come back to good and those who help him. You learn the bad is everywhere and even someone that is good is susceptible to it.

Stars Wars is one of those stories/movies that it seems all generations enjoy. Now that George Lucas sold it to Disney then maybe future generations will get to enjoy the 'Falcon' barrel rolling between two Imperial ships followed by a number of tie fighters...lolLike (1)

Perfume by Patrick Suskind. The protaganist does terrible things but you have enormous sympathy for him.

Hunker down and get yourself a good unabridged translation of Les Miserables. The whole book is a meditation on the Good and evil. It took me three months to read, but it was about the most satisfying thing I've ever done. Then, get yourself a copy of the first season of "My Name is Earl." A television show that asked profound questions in a deceptively simple way.

Piers Anthony wrote a series of books called "Incarnations of Immortality" in which he personified Death, Nature, War, Time, and Fate. The first book in the series is called "On a Pale Horse", which deals with death. The book starts with a guy who is about to kill himself but as the Grim Reaper approaches him to take his soul, the guy panics and turns the gun on the Grim Reaper and kills him. As a result, this guy has to become Death since he killed Death, which puts him in the position of making moral choices. The whole series builds from there. (BTW...I haven't given anything away with that desc
ription, because that part of the story is revealed on the desc ription on the cover of the book.) Like (1)

Almost any marvel comic book, Dantes Inferno, if you like moral conflict or even if you just want a good series to read, I love the Anne Rice Vampire series.

count of monte cristo. Old book, long too, but in the long run, satisfying and a defining moral story of a man riding the line between evil/good/revenge
