I agree with lifegirl, let your son choose. God judges from the heart, and if your son's heart doesn't know enough to make the choice himself, it won't count yet anyways. God's mercy will protect his soul until he's old enough to make that decision.

Christianed?

What does that mean? First off, how old is he, is he even old enough to decide on whether to accept the Lord as his personal Lord and Saviour?

If he is still young, you can take him to classes that a local Christian church holds and he can be exposed to Gods word there.

Still, not knowing how old he is it's hard to say. There is an age to where we are all held to our own accountability. What that age happens to be is different for each and every one of us. He is protected until that age, then he will account for every action, every utterance, and every thought he entertains in his mind stemming from his heart.

The bible does say that you shouldn't keep children away from God. Just a little warning and not to put too much on your shoulders.

There is no Biblical example that a child has to be "christened" or baptised. There is however Biblical examples of people dedicating their children to the Lord. This is the act and choice of the parent. Christening or baptism on the other hand whether it be children or adult is the act and choice of the individual. A proper understanding of baptism shows that is it more than just a rite. It is also represents a point in time where a person makes a decision to turn their back on sin and turn to Christ for a renewal of the heart and to accept Him as their Lord and Saviour. These are things that children usually don't comprehend until later in life...perhaps from their early teens onwards. This doesnt mean that you shouldn't teach your child Biblical things but ultimately its up to them to choose whether or not to get Christened of baptised. Children who are not old enough to understand the concept of salvation are not kept out of the kingdom of God because they're not baptised. Let me explain. When Jesus went to the Jordon to be baptised John the Baptist tried to prevent Him by saying "I have need to be baptised by you and are you coming to me?" Jesus responded by saying something beautiful.....listen "Permit it to be so now, for this it is fitting for us to fulfill all unrighteousness" You can read this in Matthew chapter 3. What Jesus is saying is the His baptism covers for that child, it covers the still born baby, it covers for the dying soldier on front row who accepts Christ as his personal saviour but has never had the chance to be baptised, it covered the likes of that thief on the cross. Perhaps this is a new concept to you but I hope it helps.
