They can, and they don't lessen love. Communication issues is just one of the challenges of long distance relationships, you lose the advantages of non-verbal cues you'd normally give each other when interacting with each other.

yes it is possible that it can lead to frustrated fights but it does not always follow that your love for each other is lessened. it is up to both of you to strengthen your relationship inspite of the distance. if you truly love each other and if it is really meant to be then it will work out. also, consider that frustrated fights can lead to a realization that you really love the person or that you love him / her more after the frustrated fight...

Yes & Yes --two people in love can be calmly talking and all at once some thing is said and an argument is started and neither person is really sure why, but the frustration of being away from each other can add to the stress that might of created the fight. (and) to many fights can weaken the heart which in turn can stop the love from flowing.
