My dog hears when a car comes in the driveway. Mine or any other. He lets me know. But if it's me he knows the difference. He will scratch quietly at the door till I get it open.

i think they get used to a routine like we do, maybe they have a similar body block type thing, if you do something for long enough it kind of becomes second nature? maybe, im not too sure , but they are clever wee things!
