Hi everton13
Ever since electric light and street lighting the stars have disappeared for most people. Look at the result! Stars are vital to people so they keep their sense of wonder and do not forget where we live! I think the purpose of The Stars is to show us our true size. Time to stop light pollution. Nice question!

Our sun is a star, so no we couldn't live without that. And who knows what else could be relying on suns in other solar systems!

Also, the stars have gravitational pull so that might be tied in in someway to the fabric or make up of the universe, though I really don't know.

And it could be that solar systems, maybe even universes themselves are created from the collapse of stars.

All in all, I'm glad there are stars, and they are beautiful to look at and let your mind wonder.

We can live without those stars more distant than out own sun, but we would not be alive.

The elements that make us up, the very atoms of out bodies, were fabricated in the reaction inside stars. We are literally made from star dust.

We could live without them, as they no more contribute to our existence.

They are a part of our universe. Without them, there wouldn't be us. Look up "The Big Bang Theory".

Even if you were to exclude our own star 'the Sun' from your premise we could not live without our 'stellar neighbors' as they provide the gravitational forces which keep our solar system intact. It isn't just our planetary bodies interacting with our own star that matters.
