Resolved Question

Can we really count on our friends during our bad times?

... or they are just there when they needed you and during good times? Lately Im having bad times and seems that my friends are all turning their backs on me, they dont even reply to my sms and no return calls.... they are "too far" to be reached. Im not asking for anything but just knowing that they are there.... am I just over reacting and sensitive?

i have found that in my life 99% of friends have been fair weather ones.i'm 40 next year & can count my true friends on one hand,..actually one finger.i think that you have to be your own best friend, you have to look out for yourself.

nope, when things are really bad, the only person you can count on is yourself. DO NOT expect to be able to count on friends. I'm 36, when things go wrong I have found myself surrounded by friends that suddenly wanted to get in my pants. do not let anyone take advantage of your vulnerability. protect yourself. many times strangers will surprise you with acts of kindness ( strangers who know nothing about what's going on in your life) . there is goodness out there and suport, but not always where you'd expect it. take care.

I find that family more then friends have been there for me when I am in real need. They will stick to me no matter what. Unlike friends who side with what ever suites them best. So for me this answer no.

Yes, we can. The question is more can we count on ourselves to really see which ones are real friends.

No way you aren't being too sensitive. Good friends are suppose to be there for you during the hard times. If they're true friends they'll be there for you.

I would like to think I am a loyal friend who would be there through thick and thin, but I know what you mean.

Some of the least likely people have come to my aid when they "sensed" I had a need yet others who were specifically asked for help were "too busy"

Ironically that's the only way to know if they're ur true friends.
Although its usually a disappointment but its worth trying.
At least u'll skim down your BF(best friends) list that way.

You should be able to if you have the right kind of friends. But be considerate (remember people have their own lives and their own problems sometime more pressing than yours) and always be willing to return the favour.

Real friends will be there for anything you need and you should be there for them. IF you can't count on them in an emergency or for something really important then they really aren't too good of friends.

TRUE friends are there when you need them. I have lots of acquaintances, but few REAL friends.
