Because they are happy at what they have. It isn't always a bad thing. My husband brags on me all the time. He does it to make me blush and show me how happy he is that I am in his life. I do the same for him and others. It is nice to let people know that you really appreciate them and are not ashamed to let others know. I brag about my nurse and other members of my surgical team. I am very happy to have good people working with me.

I agree with almost. Aerstople. (sorry about my spelling,no disrespect) really it's about they're insecurities, they need to feel better than everyone else.. Usually they are the real knacks... It's all about how you present yourself.. Not what you say about yourself..chilly

Bragging is a sure shot sign of insecure behavior...coming from that utter need to look for recognition and sometimes to make ur self believe that you are something..& have got something incredible.
To me bragging seems to be repetition of your accomplishments a zillion times...it has to come from the fact that till now you have not accepted that you could really get married to the guy of your dreams, afford a lavish life style, have two kids lol etc.Like (1)

People brag because they're insecure. So when they achieve something good they crave praise for it, to boost their self esteem.
It may also be more specific, as when one person brags to another about some achievement, in an endeavour that they both share, but this also usually comes down to insecurity.
The person who is bragging believes they are not as worthy as the other person.
Bragging about doing something, either better, or that the other person has not done, makes the braggart feel temporarily superior.
