Can you guess the total number of people who committed suicide since this world began? How do you feel about suicide?
When someone is killed (homicide) or kills himself (suicide), I do feel upset. It seems that this world becomes colder and darker. But, fortunately, there are other good people who live.

Couldn't even begin to guess. My view on suicide is that it's a personal choice. It is any person's right to end their own life. I would sincerely hope nobody would ever come to such a place. But I wish that in the West we would start to be more forgiving and respectful towards those who've lost their lives through suicide.

I thought I'd find the answer here;
http://www.worldometers.info/
but that's one of the few statistics they don't have.
Any suicide is one too many though. Personally I have contemplated suicide on some moments in my life, but I have found out, that I'm absolutely incapable of doing it. People, who do do that, won't have a chance to get over whatever it is, that they're experiencing. It may seem impossible at moments, but people usually do change their mind about it after some time. It's a too permanent solution to impulsively decide on. It may even not be a solution, but the start of worse to come instead.

suicide is the second leading cause of death for teens. there isnt enough help for people who are depressed. there is a lack of resources and self destructive stigmas that the media impresses on our young people. there isnt enough awareness about how common suicide is and theres little education available on fighting depression and mental illness.

They tell us that suicide is the greatest piece of cowardice... that suicide is wrong; when it is quite obvious that there is nothing in the world to which every man has a more unassailable title than to his own life and person.

I honestly don't know. Millions I guess.
I used to be suicidal, so I can understand and sympathize with people who want to extinguish the pain of living.
However, it just makes me sad ... very sad.

I think it takes guts to end it despite what someone else may think about it. It is unnatural for animals to do that but they are less aware of their circumstances than human kind. For some hell really exists on earth.

I've known two friends who have committed suicide it truly leaves you wondering why? As men are the ones most likely to take there own lives which is a selfish way out in my opinion.

Suicide is indeed unfortunate. It's so sad that so many people are driven to commit suicide. It is our failure as a society if we cannot provide mental security to each and every member. I have felt suicidal myself before, and thanks to my conscience, I took a step back and never thought of it again. Conscience, education and awareness can significantly reduce the number of all the elements of gloom in humanity, not just suicide. Let's hope for an educated and brighter future.

No, and I'm not interested in knowing how many lost souls have thrown in the towel. Are you?

Who cares? It only affects you based on the proximity you are to the person who committed suicide. You start letting in every little thought, and you'll immobilize yourself.

about 30,000 a year so whatever that is times the number of years since the world began. I think suicide is unfortunate but given the inequality of life is inevitable. I've tried 3-5 times to no avail.
