Can you relate to my mother's symptoms?

I think my mom has a mental illness, but I don't know what it is. Does anyone recognize what is going on?

She has a childlike persona that she goes into... for 20 years, it didn't happen much, but in the last few years, it's become more frequent, and the last year, she has existed completely in "child mode."

During her "child mode," she acts like she is literally five years old. Her tone of voice and pronunciation become like a child's-- she'll say things like "'frigidator" and "I'm a pretty kitty bunny, MEEEOWW" (very high-pitched sound that she's repeatedly been told is annoying.) The way she moves her legs in walking is similar to the way a small child will move-- that kind of awkward stomping you see in toddlers. Her cognition seems less mature-- she'll act confused or fail to give mature evaluations of things. (In "normal mode," she shows more mature thought processes.)

Stress and fatigue seem to bring it on.

Has she suffered a brain injury at any time in her past? She could have had a stroke too. She really needs to go to the doctor. Bribe her if you have to with ice cream or something.
